Field Application Engineer - AMEC
For our team in the USA, we are looking forward to your support as Field Application Engineer.
Your Key Responsibilities
Customer & Application Support
- Serve as the primary technical interface for customers and our distribution partners during design-in, development, and ramp-up phases.
- Analyse customer requirements and recommend optimal sensor solutions (e.g. humidity, gas, and ultrasonic sensors).
- Provide hands-on technical support including system architecture reviews, debugging, and performance optimization.
Pre-Sales & Business Enablement
- Partner with Sales to drive technical credibility in customer engagements, RFQs, and design wins.
- Deliver product demonstrations, technical presentations, and application workshops (on-site and virtual).
- On-site customer / Sales partner support and training while travelling within AMEC.
- Responding to technical customer questions, conducting schematic & layout reviews, creating sample software.
- Support proof-of-concepts, evaluations, and customer trials.
Technical Expertise & Knowledge Transfer
- Develop application notes, reference designs, and technical documentation.
- Train internal sales teams and distributors on products, applications, and value propositions.
- Act as the voice of the customer, feeding market and application insights back to Product Management and R&D.
Collaboration & Market Impact
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Product Management, R&D, and Quality teams.
- Support new product introductions (NPI) from an application and customer readiness perspective.
- Represent the company at trade shows, customer events, and technical forums.
Your Qualifications, Skills and Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, Physics, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience as a Field Application Engineer, Application Engineer, or similar customer-facing technical role.
- Strong understanding of sensor technologies and their applications (e.g. humidity, gas, and ultrasonic sensors).
- Ability to troubleshoot at system and component level.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
- Experience supporting distributors or channel partners.
- Prior exposure to design-in cycles and OEM customer environments.
- Proficient in MS PowerPoint, Excel, Word, MS Teams, and database applications.
- Excellent English writing and verbal communication skills.
- Strong customer orientation with a solution-selling mindset.
- Excellent communication skills — able to translate complex technical topics into business value.
- High level of autonomy and ownership in a remote, field-based role.
- Structured problem-solving and analytical thinking.
- Comfortable influencing without authority across functions.
- Able to adapt to a dynamic work environment and changing customer requirements.
- Business fluency in English is mandatory.
