Unlock the WSS2 Solution for Easy Driving

Modern vehicles are equipped with various sensors to enhance the driving experience and improve safety. One crucial yet often overlooked sensor is the dew point sensor integrated into the windshield. This sensor plays a vital role in preventing condensation and ensuring clear visibility.
What is Dew Point?
The dew point is the temperature at which moisture in the air condenses. In vehicles, this means fogging on the windshield, which can impair the driver’s view. By measuring the air’s temperature and humidity, the dew point can be calculated, allowing the climate system to prevent fogging.
How Does ScioSense WSS2 Work?
The sensor continuously measures temperature and relative humidity near the windshield. These data points are used to calculate the dew point. If the dew point is close to the current temperature, the sensor can help to activate the climate control system to dehumidify the air and warm the windshield, preventing condensation.
Benefits
- Improved Visibility: Prevents condensation, keeping the windshield clear and enhancing driver safety.
- Comfort: Automatically adjusts the climate system to maintain a comfortable cabin environment without manual intervention.
- Energy Efficiency: Operates the climate system more efficiently by activating it only when necessary.
To ensure these benefits, the sensor must be strategically placed for accurate measurements. A well-accepted position is within the sensor cluster integrated into the inner rear mirror unit, for which our sensor package is optimized. Incorrect placement can lead to inaccurate data and inefficient climate control.
Dew point sensors are critical components of modern windshields, contributing to improved visibility and driving comfort. By accurately measuring and controlling humidity and temperature inside the vehicle, they help ensure clear windshields and a pleasant driving experience.
